Classic Art Work Painted on Wood

Saturday, 07.18.2009, 10:15am (GMT-4)

We recently took a vacation to California and visited our Grandpa and took some pictures of his Artwork.

My wife Jennifer, grand daughter of Dennis has told me about her grandpa's art work and until I had seen his work for myself  I could not completely appreciate the detailed work he put into all his paintings.

Dennis has been painting these Classic Cars, and Motorcycles on wood for many years, and has always been very intriguing to all of those around.
The detail and time put into these works of art are astounding. And I would swear that just by looking at some of the pictures you could hardly tell that they were painted.

I took some time to talk to Dennis about his paintings while we were out there. He told me that at one time he had sold them, but anymore he doesn't, because it pretty much takes the joy out of the artwork. Now he just does it for fun.
I asked him how long it took for one painting, and he said "It could take up to 5-6 months" Since he doesn't sit down in one stretch to do them, and works on a couple at a time.

Small thumbs of some of his art work are below. Just click on the below image or Click Here to view Dennis Francis "Classic Art Work on Wood" gallery.

Artwork Bodfish

I was totally blown away when I saw his work and needed to get some images which I did only after having permission by grandpa.

My only regret is not having my digital camera set to a larger image size. This mistake has taken away the ability of seeing all the fine details that grandpa puts into his work.

Our next trip out there I will be sure to 'not' make that mistake again and setup another gallery so you can really see all the details.

From the time he putted a golf ball at the age of 2 on "The Mike Douglas Show," Tiger Woods has been a golden child.

While athletes in different professions dealt with doping scandals and other controversies, Woods continued to do what he did best: dominate the field of professional golf and rake in endorsements.

But it is that squeaky-clean image, and the tightly controlled persona Woods has cultivated over the course of his career, that experts say is fueling speculation and interest in the circumstances surrounding his recent car accident.
