Israel plans barrier along border with Egypt

Israel will build barrier along its southern border with Egypt to stop illegal crossings, the prime minister said.
"I
decided to close Israel's southern border to infiltrators and
terrorists after prolonged discussions with government ministries and
professional elements," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a
statement late Sunday.

Job growth returns -- then fades

Employers once again slashed a substantial number jobs off their payrolls in December, according to a disappointing report from the government Friday. But there was a small glimmer of hope as well.
The
payroll number for November was revised to a net gain of 4,000 jobs.
That's the first increase in jobs in nearly two years. The government
had previously indicated that 11,000 jobs were lost in November.

CIA suicide attacker's wife 'shocked' but proud

The wife of an alleged suicide bomber who killed eight people at a
U.S. base in Afghanistan last week says she is shocked by his actions
but "proud" of what he did.
Defne Bayrak, the Turkish wife of
Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi -- a Jordanian doctor identified as
the attacker -- said she doubted accusations her husband had been an
intelligence agent, but was satisfied he did not die in vain.

Burned body in trash identified as Playboy model

Paula Sladewski, a 26-year-old who once modeled for Playboy, was
identified Wednesday by Miami police as the person found dead and
"burned beyond recognition" in a trash bin on Sunday.
Now,
police are asking for the public's help to put her killer behind bars.
Whoever the murderer is, police said, they are nothing short of a
"monster."

Dutch to use full body scans for U.S. flights

Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport will begin using body scanners on all
passengers taking flights to the United States following the attempted
terrorist attack on a U.S.-bound flight on Christmas Day, the Dutch
interior minister said Wednesday.
The millimeter-wave body
scanners will be in place in about three weeks, Dutch Interior Minister
Guusje ter Horst told a news conference at The Hague.

A recent study concluded that nudity and explicit sex scenes don't translate to success for major motion pictures.

The most recent independent tests of airport checkpoints showed
screener performance "falling off the charts," according to the top
Republican on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
