to budge, lawmakers are staking out positions in the battle many
believe is imminent: a presidential effort to push legislation through
without Republican support.

Democratic and GOP leaders fought over budget reconciliation, the
parliamentary procedure that could allow a vote in the Senate and
circumvent a GOP filibuster.

Monday, 02.08.2010, 11:50am
As the National Tea Party Convention concluded this weekend, it's
clear that the Tea Partiers are propelled by two competing claims -- a
principled commitment to fiscal conservatism and a serious case of
Obama Derangement Syndrome.
The first group remains true to the
roots of the movement as it emerged almost one year ago amid bailout
backlash.

"The president will

Wednesday, 01.20.2010, 08:32am
The victory by Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown in the U.S.
Senate special election to fill the late Sen. Ted Kennedy's seat,

Congress.

President Obama at a town hall meeting earlier this week pushing his health care reform plan
"The fact of the matter is there are not the votes in the United States Senate for a public option. There never have been," Conrad said on "Fox News Sunday."
His comment signaled a shift in the health care debate, with Obama and senior advisers softening their support for a public option by saying final form of the legislation is less important than the principle of affordable coverage available to all.
