Alleged Fort Hood gunman emptied apartment

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, an Army psychiatrist who allegedly opened fire on dozens of people at Fort Hood Army Post, cleaned out his apartment the morning of the shootings, his neighbors said Friday.

Several residents at the apartment complex in Killeen, Texas, said he also gave them copies of the Quran hours before Thursday's massacre that killed 13 people and wounded 38.

A Pennsylvania soccer mom was chatting with a friend via webcam when she was shot to death by her husband, who then went upstairs and shot himself, police said Friday.

Pistol-packing soccer mom Meleanie Hain was shot dead while chatting with a friend on a webcam, police said.

Taking Woodstock is an upcoming 2009 American comedy-drama film about the Woodstock Festival of 1969. It is directed by Ang Lee and written by James Schamus based on the autobiography Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, a Concert, and a Life by Elliot Tiber and Tom Monte. It is scheduled to be released on August 26, 2009.
Abdel Basset al-Megrahi is expected to be freed

Jailed for the murder of 270 people in the Lockerbie bombing of 1988, Abdel Basset al-Megrahi is expected to be freed on compassionate grounds.

Serving a life sentence in prison in Scotland for planting a bomb on PanAm flight 103, he is suffering from terminal cancer.

Flood hits Louisville Kentucky Library

The Louisville Courier-Journal quoted library director Craig Buthod as saying up to four feet of water inundated the Main Library's basement operations center, damaging at least 10,000 books, audiobooks, CDs, and DVDs. Some 40 new computers, worth $50,000 and destined to a new branch, were devastated. Mayor Jerry Abramson said damage was at least $1 million at the Main Library.
